Andra Joeckle lives in Berlin, where she works as a writer, radio playwright and director. Her studies and doctoral research on Uwe Johnson took her to Munich, Paris and Grenoble. Her debut novel, Laura und die Verschwendung der Liebe, was published in 2002. Since then, she has been writing prose and developing radio plays and radio works for ARD. She served as city writer in Sibiu.
In her work, she explores questions of aesthetics, literary figures (Gombrowicz, Borges, Gracq) as well as social upheavals and experiences of crisis. She is currently working on a radio play about a digital agent.
