Tim Staffel studied Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen. His novel Terrordrom was published in 1998, and was dramatised by Frank Castorf for the Volksbühne that same year. This was followed by further novels, a film and award-winning youth theatre plays. He is the author and director of numerous radio plays.
In 2023, his novel Südstern was published by Kanon-Verlag, Berlin, and made the longlist for the German Book Prize. In 2024, Tim Staffel was awarded the London Fellowship of the German Literature Fund. In August 2025, his new novel Wasserspiel was published by Kanon-Verlag.
